Starting the Squawk

On the web app:

On the iPhone app:

Checking Squawk Status

You can tell whether the squawk is currently live by looking at the play/pause button:

On the iPhone, if you see the play button instead of the pause button alongside a red circle around the Livesquawk tab, it means the squawk stream is not live. Tap play to start it.

Squawk on iPhone (Including Lock Screen)

One of the key advantages of the iPhone app is that the audio squawk continues to play even when your phone is locked. When the squawk is active:

This means you can keep your phone in your pocket or on your desk and still receive live audio alerts without needing to look at the screen.

Interruptions

IMPORTANT

On the iPhone, the following actions will interrupt the live audio stream:

  • Incoming or outgoing phone calls
  • Playing music (e.g. Apple Music, Spotify)
  • Playing videos (e.g. YouTube, Safari)

After the interruption ends, the squawk will not resume automatically. You will need to return to the app and tap play to restart the stream.
